Clock Tower, Prague

Posted by
Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 15 April 2013 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

A hand-held high Iso wide angle photo showing the dramatic interior structure of the clock tower of Prague's town hall.

Dating from 1338 the tower was effectively rebuilt after being badly damaged in WWII.

The open metal structure that you can see running up the centre of the tower is the shaft for a glass sided lift.

Fantastic view and the treatment makes the image fitting to some sci-fi iconography as it was imagined in the middle of XXs.

@Gérard Beullac: Thanks Gérard - that lift support structure is a really amazing example of engineering at it's best.

LeLudo from Charenton-le-Pont, France

Excellent, though it's a geometric feast I love the contrast between organic curves that dominate the centre and the more rigid, angular array of the outer stairs. Great compostion.
