Black and White Beach

Posted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 17 December 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is another photo from Jökulsarlón in the south of Iceland where lumps of ice breaking off the nearby glacier are washed up on the beach with it's black volcanic sand and white Atlantic surf.

I love the composition and the translucense of the ice. I also appreciate the explanation because I was a bit disoriented when first looking at the image (not expecting a black sandy beach, even though we have them where I live).
