@Andrew Atkinson: Thanks Andrew. Apart from the b&w conversion and crop this was pretty much straight out of the camera.
@Brandon: Hi Brandon - I use a full frame Nikon camera and lenses rather than Canon. It's difficult for me to recommend something for you as I don't know the Canon lenses and what their strengths and weaknesses are.
The lens used for this shot is a Nikon 16-35VR f4 (VR meaning it has a vibration reduction mechanism). I use it on a full frame DSLR rather than one with an APSC sized sensor so the 16-35 is it's true 35mm equivalent focal range ie: 16mm which is extreme wide angle to 35mm which is merely normal wide angle.
I've used this lens a lot for landscape photography in bad weather and it is weather sealed which is an important consideration for both camera and lens if you are into that kind of photography.
