
Florence seems to be absolutely full of old style bicycles with loads of character.
I photographed this one at f1.4 using a Nikon 85mm prime lens so that depth of field was very shallow, concentrating attention on the bike. I think it also looks like an old medium format film photo which I like.

@Stefanie: Hi Stefanie...there seemed to be many hundreds of older style bikes like this one in Florence but you can tell your friend that the frame of this one was a light blue colour in case it's his!
@Ian Smith: I guess when using the same lens on a crop DSLR sensor the depth of field would have been the equivalent of f2 instead of f1.4 Ian. I've got a 50 f1.4 and this 85 f1.4 prime and they are both lovely to use however the speed and accuracy of the D700 made these lenses much more useable. They don't perform nearly as well on my D40.
