A Cold Morning

Well, I'm not taking many photos at the moment so I thought I'd show you an archive photo from February 2010. It was taken before dawn in misty conditions on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford, Manchester.

NIKON D40 1/40 second F/8.0 ISO 200 28 mm (35mm equiv.)

Love the atmoshpere but more importantly the grain. In these days where super clean output is seen as desirable it's nice to see a healthy grain, presumably added in post.

@digitalCG: I can't remember now Peter as this is a photo that I took and post processed back in February but, looking at the exif data it was shot at iso 200 so, yes, I guess I must have added the grain.

The background really sets the mood here. At first I wished the character had a more important place in the composition, compared to the empty foreground. but there you give a lot of weight to the picture, with this black mass at the bottom and the oppressive thick fog, that's interesting too!
