Blackpool - Under the Pier

Posted by
Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 24 September 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

A photo taken in the rain from under one of the piers at Blackpool with the famous tower in the distance.

An Open Invitation:

On Tuesday 12 October I'll be giving a talk to North Cheshire Photographic Society about my photos: NCPS Syllabus

For the first hour I'll be showing lots of my own photos using a digital projector and discussing the work of photographers like our own Hugo Poon, and John Leech who first showed me that photography could be an art form, as well as the work of iconic photographers like Michael Kenna

In the final 30 minutes of the talk I'm going to be discussing basic tips on photographic composition.

I realise that most of you live a long way away but anyone who would like to come will be made very welcome!

I like very much the contrast between the dark left part and the very lit right. A beautiful construction and naturally always a beautiful black and a white.

so beautiful ... the softness of the foreground is wonderful

Another cracker of a shot Ian.
But I think I may have cropped the top a little more, as it looks like you're not actually under anything, and the burning in the bottom right a a bit too heavy. (just my thoughts).

Magnificent, Ian. I love how - opposite the light of the right - the stanchions of the pier combine into an eventual solid black at left. A most powerful and engaging effect.
