Adrian from Whitley Bay, United Kingdom

The treatment of this is stunning - you've got the range of tones just right in the clouds and the bright reflection on the road with the silhouette is gorgeous. Interestingly, I posted a similarly processed B&W I called "Gathering Storm" around the same time as you posted this. I'd love to know your thoughts if you have a moment.

Holy... (no blasphemy now) ...cow! This is a stunner of a shot Ian! One of the most impressive photographs I've seen in ages - you must be chuffed with it? Well done.

27 Aug 2010 9:23pm

@Ian Smith: Hi Ian....yes, as you can imagine I was really delighted with this one. As soon as I saw the weather and the light I was really hopeful that I'd get something out of the ordinary. The only worry was that the rain clouds didn't seem to be lifting and were obscuring the top of the Abbey (the spire wasn't visible!), but patience paid off in the end and the clouds lifted finally.

John Leech from Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom

There's no comparison between this and your other shots of the Abbey, just three simple elements working together in perfect harmony.
