Crosby Beach

Posted by
Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 7 July 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

One of sculptor Antony Gormley's life size cast iron statues on Crosby beach at low tide.

I think I'm finally getting somewhere with this new camera for landscape photos - I've been struggling a bit with all the myriad camera settings up to now but this photo is definitely a step forward with loads more post processing room and subtlety (if that's what you want!) compared to how the files from my old D40 would have coped in the same situation.

This was photographed at 16mm on a Nikon 16-35vr lens at f11

NIKON D700 1/500 second F/11.0 ISO 200 16 mm (35mm equiv.)

@Richard: Thanks Richard!

sara from paris, France

Oui magnifique que cet homme comme usé , érodé par la mer mais toujours debout et presque arrogant devant l'océan. Une superbe photo pour une oeuvre magistrale.

Beautiful shot. Do you know that Gormley is exposing the same statues in New York. 31 of them spread around Madison Square Park in Manhattan. More difficult to capture though, being perched for most of them on top of buildings...
