Dusk in the Bluebell Wood

Posted by
Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 2 June 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Well it's that time of the year again when the woods near my home in the north of England are full of bluebells.

This is the third year here at Aminus3 that I'll have posted photos taken at dusk of the local bluebell woods.

I took this photo on Sunday 23rd May after 8pm at the western edge of the woods so I could catch the long shadows at the end of the day.

It was beautifully quiet and warm with just the lazy sound of the buzzing insects and the smell of all those bluebells filling the woods with their heady scent.

Here's my favourite shot from the first year I photographed them in 2008:

NIKON D700 1/20 second F/8.0 ISO 200 15 mm (35mm equiv.)

The colors are splendid. and that light is just lovely. The use of a wide angle lens, combined with the perspective, makes me feel like i was standing there. Good job!
