The wall in front of the castle is part of the railway which crosses the River Conwy next to the castle on the far right of this photo. Unfortunately Stephenson's horrible 1849 tubular wrought iron box railway bridge hides the much more elegant and spectacular 1826 suspension bridge by Telford: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conwy_Suspension_Bridge
