@Marie LC: Thanks Marie....jetties on lakes make great subjects for photography - I'm sure you're right that part of it is the depth that they give to the photo.

@Mike: Thanks Mike....it was a little before sunset but I pushed the colour temperature in post processing to give the warmth you see here (I could have done it in-camera but I prefer to shoot in RAW and adjust colour later on a bigger screen.

@IanSmith: Hi Ian!....re the new toy question, I've decided to stick with my D40 for now although I bought a flash recently (SB900) which feels like a much bigger learning curve than a new camera body would have been. I do miss the fact that my D40 isn't weather sealed and won't autofocus with non-afs lenses. 12mp instead of 6mp would be nice too so eventually I'm sure I'll update it - maybe if I get offered more pro work where a back-up camera body is essential rather than something which is just nice to have.
