@Suzanne: Thanks Suzanne....the part of this long exposure photo which surprised me the most when I saw it on my computer screen was the 'stutter' - the way in which each person's image has been caught several times as they hesitated before taking the next step in that long flight of stairs.

@MadScientist: :-) no, just the Christmas holiday crowds moving slowly up and down from Montmartre which is the hill withe the spectacular church overlooking the city centre.
@lucie: Thanks Lucie. You're the second person whose said that to me! Although I didn't have that particular painting in mind when I did this photo. I've seen plenty of cubist paintings before so maybe I processed it subconciously in a way that accentuated those type of qualities.
