This is a photo from a recent trip to Paris of a man walking his dog at night on the banks of the River Seine in the city centre.
By the way this one was handheld at 1/8th second at iso1600 and 250mm telephoto (375mm in 35mm terms)
I was able to lean on a wall for support but even so I was surprised I got anything useable at all. The 70-300vr lens from Nikon is a beauty!

@Ana Lúcia: Thanks Ana....I was on the other side of the river bank taking this photo and I was so pleasantly surprised to get this photo!
@Alun Lambert: Thanks very much Alun....this is actually the original full colour version. I did actually process a b&w version but it wasn't as interesting as this one.
There's absolutely minimal processing on this shot (which is quite unusual for me!)
@Celialee: Thanks for that.....the 'feel' or mood is everything on night photos isn't it!
@kaneli: Thanks very much!
@Daroru: Thanks Daroru......I always think streetlighting in cities at night is very like theatre lighting - very dramatic and directional!
@Sandrine: Thanks Sandrine. yes, I suppose it was a very slow shutter speed!
@Lorraine: Thanks Lorraine.....I guess any drama in the shot is down to the theatrical quality that city streetlights have on photos at night. It didn't hurt to be taking photos in the most beautiful city on earthg either :-)
@KimberlyC: Hi Kim!
Yes, I got this lens just before the trip to France......it's a Nikon 70-300vr. Great lens!
It's my first vibration reduction lens and i've been astonished at how effective the VR is especially at the longer telephoto lengths.
