LavenderPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 1 July 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. Following on from Mondays photo which showed an example of the bokeh of Nikon's 50mm f1.4G lens this image today is from their 105mm f2.8 micro lens. Both lenses have curved aperture blades to help get the out of focus areas as smooth as possible. . I've decided to enter the 'Cool Photoblogs' annual competition again this year. I'd really appreciate a vote from any of you who like my blog and who feel up to going through the registration process that is required in order to be able to vote: 2009 Photoblog Awards For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

LivingTestimony - NatXWy from Singapore, Singaporewow! very nice shot! i love how this was done (= 1 Jul 2009 5:37am @LivingTestimony - NatXWy: Thanks very much! @John Leech: Thanks John! Krims@nline.be from Wemmel, BelgiumAwesome, superb how you handled the pink's/purple's in this image. Outstanding DOF. A great job! 1 Jul 2009 6:51am @Krims@nline.be: Thanks Gert! GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanThis is terrific. The DOF makes this a photo of color as much as of a particular flower. Well done. 1 Jul 2009 8:47am @GJC: Thanks GJC! @Ana Lúcia: Thanks Ana! MadScientist from Düsseldorf, Germanyas smooth as possible - I would say it works. :-) 1 Jul 2009 10:01am @MadScientist: cheers...I'm glad you like it! I'm charmed! 1 Jul 2009 10:26am @hugo poon: Thanks Hugo! @Mary: Thanks Mary! Anna.C from LA ROCHELLE, France105mm or 157mm Ian ? anyway, it's a lovely image with great DOF and smooth background. As for me, I've the 60mm macro, just between the 50 and 105 and I'm very pleased of it ! 1 Jul 2009 12:44pm @Anna.C: Hi Anna, This lens is the 105mm. The Aminus3 exif reader at the side of the photo is reporting 157mm because I use a camera with an APS-C sized sensor which has a 1.5 crop factor compared to full frame 35mm equivalent. Luca Bobbiesi from Milano, ItalyBeautiful macro with great composition and lovely bokeh 1 Jul 2009 12:48pm @Luca Bobbiesi: Thanks Luca.....bokeh is anew thing for me. I'm pleased that you like the photo! bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaIan, this is just gorgeous! The soft colours and shallow depth (wicked cool bokeh!) are just wonderful. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaEvery day in my dreams dear Ian...too darned broke lol 2 Jul 2009 10:10am Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanI'm never sure about bokeh...at times I have the feeling that I should get rid of it in my shots....but it is not the case here! You managed so well the "dream effect" and the "portrait" of the flower! So much the more as lavenders are not exactly flowers meant to be shot individually.....their power is always in extended groups/fields. 6 Jul 2009 3:23am Tammy-Cricket from somewhere out there, United StatesJust a stunning image. Everything about this. 7 Jul 2009 12:47am |
