Tree - CloudsPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 1 May 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Photographed last weekend at Bodnant Gardens, North Wales. The photo was converted to B&W in Photoshop CS3 then given an even tone of sky blue. . I've decided to enter the 'Cool Photoblogs' annual competition again this year. I'd really appreciate a vote from any of you who like my blog and who feel up to going through the registration process that is required in order to be able to vote: 2009 Photoblog Awards For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

dj.tigersprout from New York City, USA, United Stateswonderfully elegant -- with a magical touch of the surreal!! 1 May 2009 5:08am @dj.tigersprout: Thanks DJ! GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanA striking complement to your last post with the same elegance of line. They would make a wonderful pair on the wall. 1 May 2009 5:38am @GJC: Thanks GJC....I'm pleased that you saw the similarity between them despite the subject being so different. John Leech from Grange-over-Sands, United KingdomNice sweeping line to this. It has a IR meets northern lights feel about it. I went though a phase of converting a shot to moody black and white, then multiplying the top layer over the original colour shot which gives a similar mood to this. 1 May 2009 7:19am Jean-François from Les Issambres, Francemagnifique cadrage ................................................ plein de poésie ! 1 May 2009 7:54am Richard Hollins from London, United KingdomA fabulous shot Ian. Very nicely composed with a really unusual background. The blue toning works very well too. 1 May 2009 8:22am dkc from Xanthi, GreeceI really like that the cloud seems to me more like a smoke trail than a cloud! Great photo with very nice perspective! 1 May 2009 8:38am gavin hart from Gold Coast, AustraliaThe directional flow of those lovely filaments of cloud compliments the vertical profile of the pine so well. The tree is reaching towards the sky and the sky embraces the tree. A truly exceptional sky shot! 1 May 2009 9:17am Uday from Fishers, United StatesVery nice. Thanks for letting us know what processing you have done on this picture. 1 May 2009 10:53am hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongSo well seen, brilliantly composed and beautifully post-processed!!! And giving a hint of nature's magnificence. 1 May 2009 8:07pm DarkElf from Perth, Australiavery creative and imaginative composition! interesting processing as well - reversing a b&w shot into colour - nicely done! 2 May 2009 12:33pm Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomI'm really not sure how you've managed to achieve this result but it's a wonderful photo. 3 May 2009 8:21am @Mike: Mike, I converted it to B&W in my normal way in Photoshop CS3 which also involves adding contrast with the 'Curves' tool etc. The last step was blending the B&W version with an even tone of blue. There's no crop or cloning compared to the original image - just the straightforward B&W conversion and the added tone. tom from Fran kfurt, GermanyReally superb shot. The cloud formation is exceptionel 4 May 2009 7:08pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, Canadawonderful shot...reaching for the stars, no doubt :) 7 May 2009 3:41am Luis A.
