AnglesPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 30 March 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. This is a photo from Halifax in the north of England where I was struck by the dramatic layering and juxtaposition of bridges and buildings in the town centre. .

@GJC: Thanks GJC! @Jean-François: Thanks Jean-François! John Leech from Grange-over-Sands, United KingdomI love the linear contrast compared to the Liverpool option... photographically speaking, of course. 30 Mar 2009 7:15am John Leech from Grange-over-Sands, United KingdomPressed post too soon! It is interesting to compare these concrete flyovers with the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle. In a lot of ways, that one is equally out of place, but the visual effect is so different. 30 Mar 2009 7:18am @John Leech: Hi John....yes, the huge scale of these modern concrete overpasses looks so out of place they have a surreal quality to them. Frida from SwedenMy eyes got stuck on the two "things" on the chimney :-) Looks like someone's sitting there. 30 Mar 2009 8:50am @Frida: Hi Frida...they are chimney pots rather than people :-) MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyLooks indeed very artificial, like somebody scrambled various layers into one image. It's a contrast of old structures vs. new ones too. 30 Mar 2009 9:53am Polydactyle from Montreal, CanadaExcellent frame and... angles! Very effective shot! 30 Mar 2009 11:43am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaSuch wonderful balance here Ian. The angles and curves work so well with this image. I really like the textures and varying tone and detail of the brick. 30 Mar 2009 12:19pm Krims@nline.be from Wemmel, BelgiumWonderfull, an way of getting old and new building/architectural skills in one frame ... excellent work! 30 Mar 2009 6:32pm Cheryl from Texas, United StatesI love the mix of new over old architecture and textures. The angles are eye catching 30 Mar 2009 9:56pm Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomvery nice image, really nice textures, just a shame about the sky, other wise a top shot 30 Mar 2009 10:01pm 613photo from United StatesAnother great juxtaposition. The more you look at this the more you appreciate it. 31 Mar 2009 2:31am DarkElf from Perth, Australiaexcellent composition - love the lines and angles here - the geometric arrangement has something special about it! 31 Mar 2009 4:39am Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomWhen I first looked at this yesterday I didn't really rate it but coming back today for a second look my opinion has changed. I like the fact that the new bridges run over the top of the old one but it's the angles that really make this picture work so well. If you've got a couple of minutes spare I'd genuinely appreciate your honest opinion on my latest post. Cheers. 31 Mar 2009 6:42am |
