"Capture Manchester" Photo CompetitionPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 27 March 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. I've heard recently that I'm one of 9 winners in a Manchester based photo competition. The prize is £500 each which is really great! Manchester Evening News - Press Announcement They are going to make postcards for sale in the city from the winning entries and there's an exhibition at the 'Cube' gallery in the city centre - opening night and press publicity is this evening starting about 7.30pm. One of the judges is a world famous British landscape photographer called John Davies whose photos are also on display at 'Cube' at the moment so I'm really looking forward to meeting him. This is my winning photo - ironically it was one of my first ever with the D40 and I can see lots of technical things wrong with it now that I would do differently. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

I went along on Friday night for the presentation ceremony and first evening of the exhibition at the 'Cube' gallery in Manchester. It was truly an amazing experience as it was the first time I've ever seen one of my photos hung on the wall in a proper art gallery. I don't know why but I wasn't expecting either such a wonderful and professionally presented exhibition or such a fantastically high standard of photography amongst the 600+ images on display.....it made me realise just how lucky I was to have picked up one of the prizes. 29 Mar 2009 9:57pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaIt's always so nice when I visit your phtoblog and discover so many beautiful and unique photographs.
