The Tuileries

Posted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 31 August 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

A view from the Tuileries gardens on a wet and miserable day looking back towards La Place de la Concorde marked by it's ancient egyptian obelisk.

Despite the bad weather I was feeling particularly happy that afternoon having just come out of a fantastic exhibition of Richard Avedon's photos at the nearby Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume - what a fantastic and moving photographer he was.

Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

This is very successful. The ripples of wet paving lead the eye and then you notice the people and backdrop. It really suit B&W also. I think you had been inspired by the exhibition.

Keep an eye on those horizons Ian... :o)

It seems your French vacation was quite a washout, from what we've seen so far. I think this image is another that can only be appreciated larger.
