Bridge over the River SevernPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 15 June 2008 in Architecture and Portfolio. This is the other main bridge over the River Severn linking South Wales with England. It was built 30 years before the one on yesterday's photo. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

@bluechameleon: Thanks very much! El Jefe from Almeria, SpainImpresionante imagen. Un buen trabajo en blanco y negro. 15 Jun 2008 5:38am @El Jefe: Thanks for that! @MahGol: Awesome always sounds nice! There's rarely a need for 'and' or anything else :-) @Helen: Thanks Helen...I'm very flattered that you like my photos :-) Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaOutstanding I love the moody sky reflected in the water, such a fantastic depth of field, bravo always Ian 15 Jun 2008 6:44am @Lorraine: Thanks very much Lorraine....I'm really pleased that you liked it! Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesIan - This is masterful. You mentioned that you love coastal imagery and this certainly reflects that passion. Beautifully produced in every respect. 15 Jun 2008 7:14am @Stephen Phillips: Thanks Stephen....well, I was born and was brought up on the North West coast of England - it's only 8 years ago that I moved to the hills in the middle of the country. There's a simplicity and directness about the coast that I really love photographing. @Shun: Hi Shun!...Thanks very much (I assume you mean the B&W tones.) @Ted: Thanks Ted! @Stefan: Thanks very much Stefan! @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks very much Alfredo! @Fiona: Thanks Fiona! Jeff from Honolulu, United StatesAnother beauty. You keep cranking these out like it is effortless. ...perhaps in your case it is effortless. Beautiful work either way. 15 Jun 2008 10:13am @Jeff: Hi Jeff....It's a bit like the swan I think...you know what I mean I'm sure - very nice to look at on the surface but a lot of paddling and effort under the water where it can't be seen :-) Putting a photo up every day that I'm proud of isn't at all easy. I've been doing this for a year now with just one break last Easter. I find it frustrating that I am not able to answer everyone's kind comments as frequently as I used to be able to do, but it's either that or posting photos less frequently. At some point I'm going to have to switch to posting new photos less often - maybe two or three times a week. What's your thoughts on the issue? @Véronique: Thanks Véronique! @Marie: Thanks Marie...that's very good of you! @Baz: Thanks Baz! @MOHAMMAD: Thanks Mohammad! Cheryl from Texas, United Statesanother beautiful shot, I think the white frame is a little distracting though 15 Jun 2008 12:43pm @Cheryl: Thanks Cheryl....perhaps the white frame suits some photos better than others. Jan from Bruges, BelgiumGreat capture and b&w post-processing !!! My 2 cents? Maybe the white border is too big. 15 Jun 2008 1:36pm @Jan: Thanks Jan!...I see that you're with Cheryl on the white border. @drum: Thanks very much Drum! hugo poon from Hong KongSuperb capture and beautiful PP!! Great work Ian! Happy Father's Day to you and all Dads out there!:-) Hugo 15 Jun 2008 2:15pm @hugo poon: Thanks Hugo....I spent Father's Day with my family and lots of other Dads playing cricket in some lovely sunshine and beautiful countryside. I enjoyed it very much! @TILALA: Thanks very much Tilala! Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesVery nice image, Ian! How much I miss clouds in the sky. 15 Jun 2008 2:36pm @Nataly: Thanks Nataly....yes, this kind of sky is perfect for photography. England is a great place for photography with lots of variety in the climate and scenery. Just occasionally though in the Winter when daily we only have about 7 hours of weak sunlight I'd swop places with you in Santa Monica :-) @Daniel: Thanks very much Daniel! [suvni:R] from Brussels, Belgiumextraordinary. very beautiful framing of the subject. 15 Jun 2008 4:53pm @[suvni:R]: Thanks very much! Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesA masterful photo, Ian. Such a sense of foreboding from the clouds... 15 Jun 2008 5:05pm @Eric Fry: Thanks Eric...that's really good of you! @Denis P: Thanks Denis! @Stu: Thanks very much Stu! JoeB from Brampton, CanadaThe bridge has no end in sight giving the impression that it could be endless, beautiful work. If you can post daily, its thrilling but requires a lot of preparation and time. 16 Jun 2008 12:30am dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Statesyour shots are always so 'spot on'. wonderful composition and clarity. bravo! 16 Jun 2008 1:24am GJC from Kyoto, JapanThis has all your signatures and I'd recognize it as yours anywhere (which I mean in a good way). You have a very strong sense of the sea and of the human interactions with the sea, whether bridges or boats. You also are very good at composing for distance and understanding how to bring elements into a coherent composition. I am always impressed. 16 Jun 2008 1:33am Margie from Auckland, New ZealandI'm a bit late and I think everybody has already said it all! I love it, the sky in particular is spectacular. Well done. 16 Jun 2008 9:39am Anthony Lambert from GermanyI´ve travelled back and forth over this bridge so often,it has never looked so good, well done. 16 Jun 2008 3:21pm Klaus from Augsburg, GermanyIan, this is a incredible shot, the contrast so good, dramatic sky, all things a image need! 19 Jun 2008 5:23pm Claus from Herfølge, DenmarkVery nice, the composition is perfect, and to do it in black and white was a great choise! 19 Jun 2008 8:57pm |
