The Hidden CityPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 4 March 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. Another one from earlier this winter in Manchester that I've only just decided to have a go at processing. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

You know Ian you really are extremely talented. They're all just amazing. Not a miss in the lot. And this one is so excellent. Love the lighting, framing, comp... Love it! 4 Mar 2008 3:23pm @amy: Thanks Amy....that's very kind of you! Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesBeautiful shot, Ian. Great balance in the perfect frame 4 Mar 2008 4:10pm @Nataly: Hi Nataly....I'm really pleased you liked the photo! Laurie from Lincoln, United StatesExcellent! I love the sharpness of it and the lighting...it looks like an hdr. 4 Mar 2008 4:43pm @Laurie: Thanks Laurie! @Will: Thanks very much Will ! Jan from Bruges, BelgiumVery nice depth you've created here, with your POV. The water is quite silky as well, due to the 13sec. It reminded me of this one, I've shot. 4 Mar 2008 5:03pm @Jan: Thanks Jan....I see what you mean - the water and light are very similar aren't they! Addey Kehinde from London, United KingdomWhat an awesome collection of images you have here! Truly inspiring...love your work!! 4 Mar 2008 5:54pm @Addey Kehinde: That's very kind of you Addey....thanks! @Ana Lúcia: Thanks very much Ana! Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesBeautiful processing, Ian. I love the composition, as well; love the old brick building on the left and then the newer tower in the distance. The light is spectacular! 4 Mar 2008 7:29pm @Ron: Thanks Ron......compositionally, this was one of the most difficult photos I've ever done. I saw it long before I got my DSLR but it was impossible with just my compact camera and it's 35mm wide lens. It was only once I got my 10-20 lens with the new camera that I was able to get the shot. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWell-processed Ian. I love the sky tones. But not only that, congrats on the composition; your use of wide angle does show this place off wonderfully. 4 Mar 2008 8:05pm @Viewfinder: Thanks Viewfinder....I'm really pleased that you liked it! Jim Mahan from Glendale, CA, United StatesExcellent image! The lighting is perfect for this back-alley canal sceen. 4 Mar 2008 8:17pm @Jim Mahan: Thanks Jim......part of the excitement of night photography for me is seeing how the lighting turns out on the final image. Very often it's a surprise as the camera sensor 'sees' colours at night differently from us. @Lydia: Thanks very much Lydia! João Mourão from Amadora, PortugalSuperb shot. Love the colors and tone. Composition is perfect. 4 Mar 2008 10:37pm @João Mourão: Thanks João....I love night photography and this location is a very exciting and challenging one. @Stefan Thaler: Thanks very much Stefan! danthro from Suburbia, United Statesgreat shot once again. this looks like a dangerous place too be alone at night. but beautiful in an old urban kind of way. 5 Mar 2008 4:16am drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomThis is cool. Something about it looks very otherworldly ad it somehow manages to appear both prohibitive and inviting. I like it. Dan 5 Mar 2008 8:33am Anne from White Rock, BC, CanadaTrying to do a catch-up again Ian! This is really beautiful. Love the eye leading line of the canal and the straight vertical lines of the buildings (except for the bit on the far right). Wasn't it possible to straighten that bit during processing. Otherwise the processing is just fabulous. I love it! :-) 5 Mar 2008 8:50pm Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanYes, a great range of colours and interesting lighting. 5 Mar 2008 11:35pm Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThe processing is beautifully done and the perspective is attractive! 6 Mar 2008 12:57pm Stu from Kyoto, JapanLove the juxtaposition of old and new in this one. Great colours and lighting too. You're quite the dab hand at the night shots. Hats off.... 13 Mar 2008 6:55am |
