A Glimpse of BeautyPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 2 February 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. Well, what can I say about this photo apart from that I found these wonderful photos of lotus flowers by Huimin here and wanted to try something along the same lines for myself....unfortunately I don't have a lens that will do close-up photos so a vase of mixed flowers is the best you're going to get. I can't explain why I find Huimin's mono-toned lotus flower photos so delightful but they are bewitching.....like a glimpse of secret beauty shining through the darkness. When eventually I manage to find a way of focusing closer with my camera you might see some more close-up flower shots....Spring is only just around the corner after all :-) . This photo here is one of my favourite photos with my new DSLR. I've submitted it for publication in JPG magazine. You can vote for it's inclusion if you can manage to get through the registration process . This blog has been 'nominated' for the 2008 Photoblogawards. If you like it, please take a moment and vote for it here :Photoblogawards. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaSuch delicacy, those warm brown/ivory mixed tones you've used are a delight.... 2 Feb 2008 10:29am See The Light from Newcastle, United StatesYou have done a wonderful job on the conversion. I am partial to the tones used here. 2 Feb 2008 8:15pm GJC from Kyoto, JapanAn interesting, moody shot, and I like that you continue to "take chances" and experiment with different things. I always enjoy seeing what you're doing. 3 Feb 2008 4:03am hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongElegant. I do like the tone Ian... Thanks for the link of Huimin's galleries. Huimin has added some noise and specific blur (it looks to me... actually it looks like he set a path for the blur) and that could be the difference. But I still find this to be wonderful... the sepia is such a great touch. 4 Feb 2008 10:28pm huimin from TaiwanHi, Ian. It's Huimin from Taiwan. I noticed that u start trying monochrome flowers.
