This is the final photo in a mini-series of 5 shots that I took last week in and around the ship building town of Barrow-In-Furness which is located on the NW coast of England on the opposite side of the bay from Morecambe. . @Lorraine: Thanks for the support Lorraine!
So interesting having these ships dotted around. Do people ever risk trying to get on them to explore? I Imagine its very dangerous but...
19 Dec 2007 9:07am
@Daroru: Well I could see inside the wooden ship on the photo from 3 days ago and all I could see inside it was the bottom half of the original massive engine block still on its mountings. Not sure about this one though as someone on DPReview has told me that it may be repaired in time!
stunning shot .well done!

@Laurie: Hi Laurie! - I originally decided to get my first digital camera about a year ago after greatly admiring the work of Hugo Poon who still posts his photos even now on DPReview's Fujitalk forum (he now has his own photoblog at 'one day in my life'. Once I finally got my camera I quickly found that the problem was that, as I didn't live in Hong Kong, it was impossible for me to take photos like Hugo's.....eventually I realised that the important bit about photography is not that we have a particular style but that we strive to convey the 'sense of place' for the area in which we live. I can only hope that for someone from Hong Kong my photos will seem just as strange and beautiful as Hugo's photos seem to me. Thank you for your encouragement.
you were at photographers piradise last week my friend - all the series is fantastic

@rem_la: Hi rem_la! - I've since been told by someone who lives in the area that maybe, one day, the boat will be restored...it looks like an uphill struggle to me though!
