The Hidden City #2Posted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 4 December 2007 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. Part of Manchester city centre that visitors to the city rarely see as it is so far below normal street level. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

Frankie from Boxmeer, NetherlandsChristmas is comming. An attractive photo. Well done 4 Dec 2007 9:45pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesMarvelous night images --especially the B&W work. How do you convert to B&W --channel mixer and finesse, or some other process? 10 Jan 2008 3:00pm @Twelvebit: I am a beginner both to photography and Photoshop so I try and keep everything as simple as possible. The method that I use for conversion is an automated one within Photoshop Elements 5. There are 4 or 5 pre-set B&W conversion options which each give slightly differing styles (I never use the 'newspaper' style one)....from that start point you can alter the amount in each colour channel using a very simple automatic interface. The final bit I do is to adjust lce usm, contrast, light and shadow to the point where I feel happy with it. Oh, yes, on some shots I also do a bit of dodging and burning...it depends on the image. I'm still trying to get to grips with layers but it's something I definitely want to do in time. Robert from Kingsville, CanadaYour b&w work is very good. I really like the mood it evokes. Love the ultra wide shots especially . 3 Dec 2008 3:54pm |
