Eye ContactPosted by Ian Bramham (Manchester, United Kingdom) on 25 July 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. I was walking along the pavement in the historic city of Chester when this strangely dressed Lady looked at me through the window straight in the eyes. I sometimes get a cold look when I try some street photography but a smile usually does the trick - not in this case I'm afraid as she looks seriously 'not amused'! My daughter said afterwards that she thought it looked like a ghost! Ian PS - for those among you who are into buildings, this is an original timber frame building and is at least 300 years old. If you look at the panes of glass in the window you will see from the uneven reflections that the glass is handmade rather than modern machine made 'float' glass. For purchasing high quality archival prints of any of these photos you can send me an email by clicking here or by going to MY NEW WEBSITE where prices are listed in the gallery sections under each individual photo. Links to the websites of other photographers whose work I love and who have all helped me enormously over a long period of time. I find the work of all 3 to be inspirational.

Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanI spent a lot of time in Chester as I went to uni at NEWI in Wrexham. Brings back memories! 26 Jul 2007 2:05pm @Daroru: Thanks Daroru! - I'm pleased that it reminded you of your time in Chester. bronzebilly u.k. from cardiff, United Kingdomhey Ian--well constructed image and story--aaah the architect emerges--billy 26 Jul 2007 10:23pm @bronzebilly u.k.: Thanks very much - Chester is a great place if, like me, you love buildings and townscapes with character, history and with a human scale to them that is somehow very reassuring and comforting in this modern fast paced world. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWhat a really compelling composition -- those eyes do seem to be looking at the viewer; this open window was truly a great find. But what you did with it made art into even more art. 27 Jul 2007 2:39am @Viewfinder: Thanks Viewfinder! - The shot is cropped a tiny bit but otherwise pretty much straight out of the camera otherwise. It was just one of those lucky breaks we all get now and then. Thats, I guess, the real reason why I have loved taking photos so much over the last few months - it has made me start looking properly again at my surroundings :-) |
